An Intro...

Sooo…After much prodding by the Other Nerd…I have decided to finally buckle down and write a blog. I mean, we’ve had this space for like, a year or something, and after the initial new-ness wore off (aka, we got bored) it just kind of languished in the ether. That didn’t stop us from constantly calling each other to blog verbally about whatever, with frequent “We should write this down!”/”I’m gonna blog this!” exclaimed in the silent moments before we inevitably began ranting about something else.

Plus, I was a little annoyed that the Other Nerd started a book blog and didn’t tell me anything about it. If she can blog about books…I can blog about TV.

And Finally…FINALLY…I have decided to do just that. My current passion right now? The Vampire Diaries.

First…let’s get this out of the way. Does TVD cater to my age demographic? Probably not…I’m very much not a teen or in my early twenties. HOWEVER…I am a Buffy: The Vampire Slayer fan from back in the day--before vampires were trendy (Thank you, AMC writers for that SMG line. And if you know who SMG is…we are going to get along FAMOUSLY). And I do appreciate Pretty. And there are some very, very, very Pretty people on TVD. Also…I don’t act a day over 22…so that might also have something to do with it.

Secondly…lemme put my TVD fan-ness in its proper order. I am Team!Damon first and foremost. Followed by Team!Delena (Damon/Elena shipper ALL THE WAY) then Team!Supernatural (not the show, altho I do love that too…sooo much Pretty to enjoy) Team!Elena and lastly Team!TVD. What does this mean for you, the reader?

Team!Damon: I love him. I usually think he’s right…and if not right…then he’s got the right idea. This doesn’t mean that I won’t call him out on his wacky, crazy shit…but most likely, I will either let it slide, or I’ll get over it. Usually with a chuckle and and an “Oh, Damon, you wacky, crazy shithead!” and a knee slap.

Team!Delena: I want them together. Yes, he’s a crazy wacked out vampire. Yes, she’s a human in love with his brother blah. I don’t care. I want them together. The end. Period. Over.

Team!Supernatural: I care about what happens to all the supernatural characters, as long as it doesn’t conflict with Team!Damon or Team!Delena. Caroline, Stefan, Tyler, Jeremy and Bonnie (whom I LOATHE) will always be more interesting to me then Team!Human. That means if Team!Supenatural has a run in with Team!Human…I want Team!Human to die. Matt, Alaric and whomever else is still human on this show will not have a cheerleader in me. I don’t care about Matt’s boring problems about his boring normal life. Alaric is only interesting so long as he’s got his Eternity Ring and doesn’t conflict with Team!Damon, Team!Delena or Team!Supernatural.

Team!Elena: Often, she acts like an idiot. I love her anyway. Also, she is part of Team!Delena…so there is that.

Team!TVD: I love this show. I love the writers, I love the characters, I love the subject matter, I love the silly title card, I even love to hate the stupid voice-overs that they thankfully got rid of in the first season. All of the characters are morally ambiguous and do heinous, thoughtless, ridiculous things all the time. I don’t care. When I decided to watch this show, I knew what I was in for, and I hung my “That would never happen in the Real World!”-cap at the door. Mainly, b/c…hello…it’s a show about VAMPIRES with witches (not the Wicca kind) and werewolves. It was pretty clear from the get that this show would be operating under a different set of laws than normal.

Soo…now that we’ve gotten that out of the way…what will this blog be about? My thoughts on the show…not a review, b/c lord knows there are enough of those, just my thoughts on the latest episode from a Team!Damon/Team!TVD perspective. I thought about putting my thoughts out there on the plethora of other boards dedicated to the same thing, but then I realized A)I only really care about my opinion and B)Good Lord, if people hate the actions of the characters sooo much that all they do is rip into the show and the characters why the hell are they watching TVD in the first place? I love TVD, I think it’s better than all the reality bullshit that’s out there, and I’m not afraid or too cool to admit it. Obviously, there will be episodes that I’ll love more than others, and obviously, I’m biased on who I want the show to focus on, but I can also be objective when I want to be…and this blog will have plenty of that.

Also…I swear. A lot. So if your eyes are sensitive to that kind of thing…this is not the blog for you.

Soo…if you’re still with me after that lengthy introduction…let's get to it...
